About Joaquim Miro

Joaquim Miro is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and advisor who has spent the last decade building, scaling, and exiting companies while traveling to 75+ countries across every continent.

Born in Montreal, Canada, Joaquim earned his Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management. While at McGill, he was one of the refounders of the TAU Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon, one of the largest fraternities in the world and now the largest fraternity on the McGill campus. After working at L'Oreal Canada managing an 8 figure budget for the launch of Whole Blends, he moved away from corporate and dove headfirst into entrepreneurship, co-founding his first company while building a location-independent lifestyle that would become his signature.

Building Companies Remotely

Joaquim's entrepreneurial journey includes co-founding MLG Blockchain, where he served as COO and scaled the company from 4 to 120 employees in just 9 months — with zero external funding. This hypergrowth experience taught him the fundamentals of remote-first operations, distributed team management, and capital-efficient scaling.

He went on to co-found TrustSwap, a DeFi platform that reached a market cap of over 400 million dollars, and Alpaca Network, which raised $1.2 million in a community funding round within just two weeks.

Today, Joaquim is a founding partner at GDA Capital, a venture capital and advisory firm focused on web3, AI, and fintech investments. He is also the co-founder of Gatewayz.ai, an AI-powered platform revolutionizing how virtual companies operate.

Investing & Advising

As an active investor, Joaquim has backed 40+ portfolio companies across web3, AI, fintech, and SaaS. He serves as an LP at Holt Xchange, Canada's most active fintech accelerator, and advises at TechStars, Founders Institute, Outlier Ventures, and other leading programs.

His advisory work spans mentoring founders, judging pitch competitions, curriculum development, and hands-on strategic guidance for startups navigating fundraising, go-to-market, and remote operations.

Life Beyond Business

Joaquim is a father, a Spartan racer, a paraglider, a pianist, and a cook. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and French, and has built a life around curiosity, adventure, and continuous learning.
